Jacob - August 2006

In his nursery, after everything was taken away.
He looked a little dubious about road-trip life.
It started with fun toys at Nanny and Grammie’s, though.
And visits with Grampie...
...adventures with dog bowls...
...cuddles with mom...
...horsing around with dad and uncle Adam...
...so that’s all okay.
Watching Natasha the doggie.
Playing with Natasha and Nanny
Cuddling with Great-Gram Lois
At Great-Gram Grace’s house, he discovered that the television had buttons.
He was quite happy when he realized what they did.
And proceeded to watch for a few seconds, turn the tv off, and repeat ad nauseum.
“Here, want the phone?”
Tickle games with Grace
Mischief with the dog food
He still seems to love computers.
He wasn’t as big a fan of four-wheeling, though.
After the meltdown, Jacob consents to investigate the four-wheeler with mom.
More fun and games
He is now very interested in shape-sorting toys.
At Gramp Arnold’s house in Providence
Cuddling with Chava and Nadav
Hotel rooms are the best.
Doesn’t the sight of two Jacobs strike fear deep into your heart?
Hugging Minnie Mouse
Jacob wants the traffic to be over.
Still.
Still.
Yay, the traffic is over!
He was enchanted by Jean’s doggie. (It’s plastic.)
Peek-a-boo, Aunt Jean!
Fun at a rest stop
Not quite walking yet
But he still loves airplane rides
Peek-a-boo, Mom!
Road trip feet
Sleeping through more traffic on the way to VA.
Looking impish at Moses and Melissa’s house
Walking at yet another rest stop
He really loves hotel rooms.
And remote controls.
And sharing apples with dad.
Riding in a car, not so much.
At an awesome playground in KY
It had large soft structures to climb
Hotel room in KS
Dismantling the bathtub there...
...and being quite happy about it.
Playing in Boulder
This must be in Utah?
It’s the 80s!
“Hey, baby! Give me some sugar!”
Sunscreen foot
Utah is thirsty country
At Arches National Park
The intrepid explorers
Jon and Jacob at Balanced Rock in ANP.
Jacob TOTALLY ZONED OUT to Teletubbies, in the car.
Sleeping through moving day
Mmmm. Yogurt.
Jacob likes unpacking!
Playing with mom
Looking sad
Playing with daddy--much better!
Jacob also likes boxes.
And screws.
A year old already!
Sweet boy
Enjoying his Grampie’s company
Watching the sea otters with Grampie at the Monterey Bay Aquarium
Racing around the Aquarium--he’s walking everywhere, now.
Jacob’s first birthday cake.
He was extremely fastidious about the frosting--didn’t want to waste a bite!
The cake, however, made for good crumbling. Happy birthday!

This was a month of huge change. At the start, we left our home in Massachusetts for the great unknown. After visiting friends and family in Maine, we set off across the country. By the end, Jacob was one year old and we were in our new home in California.
